Not about sales but about shopping

Everyday Minerals - mineral makeup etailer

I saw from my dashboard that Rinnah had linked to my site and in the same breath she mentioned Everyday Minerals, an etailer of mineral makeup. It reminded me that I’d tried it and thought I’d review my experience shopping with them.

Everyday Minerals has recently facelifted their website, and changed some of their foundation formulas and colours. It looks more polished and professional now compared to before.

I tried their free sample kit a while back when I was trying out mineral foundation. I see from the site that the packaging of even the sample kits have changed. Previously, it was in little transparent 5g pots with the name of the shade and formula attached to the back with a little sticker. Now, the pots look sturdy and professionally packed with the name of the company printed on the brown cover.

The site is easy to navigate and importantly, loads quickly. I have a crappy internet connection at home and even there it loads up quickly enough that I don’t get impatient and shut down. The colour representation of foundation shades and their presentation also looks better and it is easier to choose a shade that suits you. I like that when you hover over a colour or formula, a pop up box gives you a brief description of the colour or formula, which is very helpful.

Buying foundation online blind is always a touch and go business. When you can’t test the product before you buy, people are more wary to buy it. So, having a free sample kit with 3 foundation samples, 1 blush sample and 1 concealer sample is a great idea. All you do is pay for shipping. To Malaysia, shipping is US$5.10.

I received the samples in 5g jars bubbled wrapped in a tube form and shipped in a bubble envelope. They arrived safely within 10 days and each sample is good for at least 5-6 uses.

Payment is through Paypal, Visa, Mastercard, American Express and it isn’t hard to checkout. Everyday Minerals offers a 100% money back guarantee (minus shipping) but since we live overseas, the free sample kit is the way to go, really. Sending a package back will cost too much to make it worth the while.

One thing that I think will help customers is to have an idea of how much shipping will cost. By now, I’m sure the owner would have a fair idea of shipping, both domestic and international. The only way to know how much shipping would cost is to input your mailing information and checkout the item. I felt it was unnecessary hassle, as I like to know my damage before I hit the checkout button. So, it would be useful if shipping information could be included somewhere or if there is a fixed shipping scale so customers know their damage.

They run weekly specials so if you use the products and plan to stock up, there is a current discount code:

Enter discount code YMDfvw in your cart to get 5% off your order before September 18th! And all orders over $30 (after discount and minus shipping) receive a Free Mini Baby Kabuki and Free Mini Blush/Eye Shadow Cherry Fizz!

I had no problems with Everyday Minerals as far as the shopping bit went and I’ve read on other forums that if you run into problems, their customer service is great too. I personally liked their semi-matte foundation formula although I found that mineral makeup wasn’t really for me.

I just bought this one too, although I haven’t tried it out yet. The shipping’s pretty decent, considering the fact that you get 5 tubs (albeit small) free.

I haven’t had the time to try it on yet, but will do a review on them when free :)

PB says: Yep. It isn’t bad though the free part is really a gimmick eh? ;)
