MAS fair and Airasia free tickets – who to go for?

When I saw that MAS and Airasia were going head to head with promotions, I knew it was a good time to get my bearings right and book a ticket for an upcoming holiday. Nevermind to where – whats important is that you get a cheap air ticket.

Here’s a site that shows a quick comparison between the two airlines and how they fair in the airfare wars.

As I expected, there is a catch to both airlines’ fares. One requires you to book far far ahead while another offers immediate departure. One offers no fuel surcharge while the other does charge the fuel surcharge.

In the end, it comes down to where you want to go and when. If you plan to go during the MAS travel period, go with MAS – even if its a few dollars more expensive, the comfort makes up for it. If you are planning to fly outside the MAS travel period, go with Airasia – its cheaper.

Which did I choose? SIA!

HAha….

AirAsia Free Seats and Malaysia Airlines Sale

There are 2 airline promotions starting today – Airasia has announced free seats (again!) while MAS has some special rates for their travel fair. There are destinations in common for both airlines and while I’m in the market for an airline ticket, I couldn’t help gravitating towards MAS as opposed to AirAsia.

I miss flying commercial! I haven’t decided which one to go for – it might come down to dollars and cents in the end but it would be nice if there were some savings on cruises in future – I’ve never been on a cruise :)

Have you checked out the Ikea As Is?

One of my favourite sections of Ikea is the As-Is department. In Mutiara Damansara its located near the checkout and usually contains lots of what looks like broken bits of furniture and rubbish.

But don’t knock it till you’ve looked in it because that was where someone picked up a lovely huge tv stand in PRISTINE CONDITION at a fraction of the retail price, all because it was an ex-display item! OMG!

I was so jealous. I wanted it myself but of course have no place left in my puny little apartment to put it in. I myself have picked up some parts and shelves for my house at cheap prices all because they were previously displayed.

To be fair, much of it is pretty much junk and I’m shocked that the prices of some of them are not too far from the original selling price despite being broken!

Moral of the story is you have to sift through the junk to get to the gems but not all of us want to bother with that. So there’s no real threat to Ikea’s full price items just yet!
