Buyer Beware of your phones
Before the iPhone was officially brought into Malaysia by Maxis, I used to see it being sold in Sg. Wang Plaza that mecca of mobile phones. I think those were unlocked phones or “under water phones” which are brought in without going through the official channels. They aren’t fakes – just don’t come with the original warranty.
It troubles me sometimes to see this because a friend I know bought a mobile phone there once. It was new and original i.e. came with the official distributor’s warranty. However, when he inserted his sim card and wanted to use it, he found that there were numbers in the phone memory and pictures too.
The phone was not new and yet he paid full price for it. So really. Buyer beware if you shop for your phones at these places!
