Not about sales but about shopping

Phone spam

Just got a SMS on my mobile offering a Promotional flash drive for introducing friends to apply for a certain bank’s credit card.

I’m puzzled at these tactics by the bank. If they were offering to absorb the RM50 service tax being imposed on credit cards come next year as proposed by the Budget, perhaps people might consider taking it up.

Otherwise, I’d probably be cursed by my friends for spamming their phones with these spammy text messages. Urgh!

Buyer Beware of your phones

Before the iPhone was officially brought into Malaysia by Maxis, I used to see it being sold in Sg. Wang Plaza that mecca of mobile phones. I think those were unlocked phones or “under water phones” which are brought in without going through the official channels. They aren’t fakes – just don’t come with the original warranty.

It troubles me sometimes to see this because a friend I know bought a mobile phone there once. It was new and original i.e. came with the official distributor’s warranty. However, when he inserted his sim card and wanted to use it, he found that there were numbers in the phone memory and pictures too.

The phone was not new and yet he paid full price for it. So really. Buyer beware if you shop for your phones at these places!

Growing up, I wish I knew of the many types of acne treatment available today instead of having to suffer through teenage acne.

People I know are simply popping pills to get rid of the acne and honestly, their smooth faces are testament to the fact that it works. No acne = no scars = a more confident outlook.

Whatever you say, looks matter in this world!

After sales service

You know how everyone complains about the deterioration of sales service these days? Well, I’ve recently just had some very good after sales service which was rather above the call of duty.

The sales person helped me sort out some problems I had with tinting on my car and got it replaced without hassle on my part. I also know of someone who got their tile flooring replaced due to poor tile laying on the part of the contractor. That came with a bit of hassling but it was done.

So there’s hope yet for the service industry!
