Window Cleaners
Not quite shopping but related. While in Bangkok, I saw some cleaners cleaning the glass walls of a shopping center. It was high and instead of using a gondola or similar safety products , they were rappelling down the sides of the building.
Granted it was not terribly tall like the Petronas Twin Towers but I’d never seen cleaners do that before. Pretty innovative and they were strapped in nicely so I guess it was relatively safe.
Carry a small resuable bag
There is a drive in Selangor to get people to use reusable bags when shopping and for that they gave out promotional bags. Somehow I find that rather ironic.
For many people, I’ve found that after they take such promo bags which are usually big, they store them at home and forget about them. When they go out, they don’t carry them because they are unwieldly.
So I find personally that the best way to carry reusable bags is to get one that can be folded up small to fit into your pocket or a handbag. That’s the only way people will use these bags.
Bangkok for wedding favors
I don’t know about wedding invitations but I find Chinatown in Bangkok a good place to shop for wedding favors. There are loads of stalls selling all sorts of favours from key chains to figurines to fans to chopsticks.
All for way cheaper than you can get here and in better designs too. In fact I believe that local suppliers get their stocks from Bangkok! I know I would if I were running a wedding supply store. So, if you want interesting wedding favours, take a trip to Bangkok
