Sometimes, when in a more pensive mood, I wonder if we might not be better off if there were social security benefits available here like in countries overseas. I don’t know what those cover, but at least the hardcore poor have something given to them.
Every year around raya, there will be tv shows about these people who are the hardcore poor living in houses with no electricity or water and with no food. In fact, don’t even call them houses. They are nothing but shacks.
On the converse side, in the city, people are living it up, having buka puasa at buffets that cost RM88++ a head. For dinner. It doesn’t make sense. Maybe social welfare is a good thing
