Not about sales but about shopping

Luxury Jeans at Bread and Butter

Someone emailed me once to ask where she might find Seven for all Mankind jeans in Malaysia. At the time, the only place I’d recalled seeing it was at Isetan at KLCC which had a luxury jeans section. I recalled they had Seven and Paper Denim and Cloth amongst others.

I also recalled that they cost upwards of RM500 each! So, suffice to say, I wasn’t about to explore the luxury jeans section any time soon. I wasn’t sure however, if I ever saw Seven for all Mankind anywhere else.

That is until I was walking around in The Gardens at Midvalley Megamall.

While walking around the upper levels of The Gardens, I chanced upon a store called Bread and Butter.

Photo-0290The store looked like a jeans boutique in that it was filled with racks and racks of jeans. A quick glance at the side of the entrance revealed the brands they carry - Seven for all Mankind, 575 Denim, Denim for Immortality, Evisu, True Religion number amongst the luxury jeans brands carried.

So now you know where to go for your luxury jeans fix. Me? I’m still swanking around in my cheapy denims :) I might walk into the store some day, if only to try out a pair or two. I know that once you get on the slippery slope of luxury jeans there’s no turning back - so I’m resisting the slippery slope for now.

Look at Blook - fashion retail store

blook

I used to frequent Blook when it was 2 shop lots in Bangsar. They had trendy and contemporary clothes at very affordable prices which made it an attractive shopping experience. Their sales were also a very good time to pick up past season items at good prices.

Recently, Blook underwent some form of  rebranding and transformation and they are now one big clothes boutique on Jalan Telawi (down from McDonalds) with a slightly more upmarket feel to the layout of the place. I’m happy to note however, that the prices of the clothes were not similarly raised.

Blook now has a section for evening dresses at very affordable prices - between RM129-RM300 and I think it would be a good place to start looking, for those who have  dinners to attend or even proms. Some of the tops did have a little bit of an “aunty” look about them, but I suppose they cater to different tastes and different age groups who go through the store.

I rather liked some of the tops I saw there. I’m on the lookout for tops - shirts, blouses - and I liked what I saw. Blook is presently having a Year End Sale from now until November 30. There are items going for up to 70% off which is a steal!

I popped by and got a dress last weekend for 50% off i.e. RM39.50 down from RM79. I did try on many other sale stuff, but nothing else caught my fancy. There were some previous season dresses going for about RM40 which is a steal, if you can wear them or have an occasion to.  Maybe I’ll check out their other outlet in 1 Utama this weekend to see what else I can scoop up.

Blook outlets are found at Bangsar (Telawi), Bandar Utama (1st Floor 1 Utama) and Subang Parade. They have an outlet called Elo as well, for accessories.

Italian Designer Fashion at FashionRome.com

Ah… do you see the button on my right sidebar to FashionRome.com? This is an online fashion site that has clothes, bags and accessories from Italy based on Italian designs and by Italian designers. The clothes designs are rather quirky in the European style which for me, is quite refreshing, compared to the rather more mainstream American styles that we see so often.

For example, paisley. You don’t see Paisley being used very much, but somehow, it works.  Here’s a selection of what you might find on FashionRome.com.

I find myself drawn to the dresses for some reason. I’m into these sort of dresses lately, and they aren’t easy to find here. FashionRome.com ships internationally which is great for us international customers. There is also a Sale section which has some past season fashion at nice discounts.

For now, if you want to purchase anything from this site, you can use this online code FRAASHOP to get 10% off the new Fall/Winter collection. Nice yes? I haven’t tried it out myself, but its tempting…

Giordano warehouse sale - my thoughts

I saw in the newspapers about the Giordano warehouse sale and also read about it on Shoppingnsales (where the picture comes from).

I like the Giordano warehouse sale. It allows me to restock my casual wardrobe for low low prices. In fact, during the last Giordano warehouse sale, I spent a mere RM120 and got a ton of stuff!

But when I went for the recent sale which is on from Oct 30 to Nov 4 2007, I was very very disappointed.

  1. The selection was very dismal. Most of it were stuff from previous sales which did not sell and choice was very limited.
  2. Prices were higher.

I walked away with a pair of cropped pants for RM29 which is cheap in the big scheme of things, but not as cheap as it used to be at the Giordano warehouse sale. I’d just sit this one out to be honest.
